Genetics
HH Rebozo,
was an excellent performer himself with a Rodrigo PESSOA. The pair were part of the Brazilian Olympic team in London 2012, came 4th in the WEG in Lexington (individually and team raking), 7th in the Wolrd Cup Final in Geneva 2010... Unfortunately he passed away just after retiring from sport, but his progeny, few in numbers, is highly interesting. Other than RUBENS, he also produced:
- REBECA LS, excellent 1,60m winner with Edward Levy cumulating 650 000€ in prize money. She is the dam of Jérome GUERY's shooting star CARECA LS.
- RUMOROSA, placings up to 1.50m in the USA with D. BEISEL
Hanoverian damline n°2195006 (WISKY): PRESTIGIO LS, SCAPPINO CHANEL, LATINA G, EVEREST LASTIC
CHANEL 149,
his dam, is also known as SCAPPINO CHANEL. Excellent performance mare, she's had her biggest moments of glory with Mexican rider Gerardo TAZZER. On top of many Wolrd Cup and Nations Cup rankings, the pair is also PanAmerican Reserve Team Champion and came 4th individually! They also represented Mexico at the Olympic Games in Athens 2004. Afterwards, the mare proved to be an excellent broodmare with several international offspring:
- TAMARINDO LS, placed 1.55m with Michael JUNG
- PRESTIGIO LS LA SILLA, regular placings with Philippe ROZIER in 1.50m and 1.55m classes.
- TEOTL LS, dam of MASAI LS LA SILLA, ranked in 1.45m classes at 8 yo in the USA.
AFRIKA,
His grand-dam also produced CHIANTI D, full brother to above mentioned CHANEL, winner in 1.45m Grand Prix.
DESIREE,
is a uterine sister to incredible EVEREST LASTIC, jumping 2.32m with Nick SKELTON in London in 1978!
Performances
RUBENS has been a very reliable performer with each one of his riders. He started in Christian HERMON's stables as a youngster and even took part in the French Young Horse Championship at 5 years old. At the age of 7, he joins his owners in Mexico.
RUBENS rose quickly to the top level, jumping his first ever 1,60m GP at CSI3* Arezzo at only 8 years old! At 9, he was ranked in the GP 3* 1.55m of Ebreichsdorf and in a CSI4* 1.50m in New York.
At 10, he gathers many ribbons in 1.50m classes and even a 7th place in the Calgary World Cup class. His move to Conor SWAIL enabled him to pass the gap to the high level. The pair wins and ranks in many classes, cumulating nearly 500 000€ de gains in only 2 years:
- Winner GP 5* Tryon
- Winner of the Nations Cup in Vancouver
- 2nd in the GP 5*W of Vancouver
- 2nd of GP 4* in Wellington
- 6th in the prestigious Calgary GP 5* 1.70m
The stallion changes rider once again in 2019, this time for another Irish. Without losing his incredible performance regularity, he quickly gets top rankings with Denis LYNCH in CSI 5*:
- Winner of GP 5* in La Coruña
- Winner of the 5* Derby in La Baule
- 2nd in the GP 5* of Waregem
- 7th in the World Cup GP of La Coruña (the day after his victory in the city's GP)
- Multiple victories and top placings in CSI5* 1.50m classes like Verona, Valencia, Stockholm, Valkenswaard, London...
Breeding advice
RUBENS is an incredible athlete: willing, careful, quick jumping reflexes... he combines many sought after qualities for the modern top sport, with great canter propulsion. He might better suit taller and long-lined mares.
Offspring
Mainly focussing on sport, especially on the other side of the Atlantic, RUBENS only counts a handful of offspring already competing.
His breeders, the La Silla studfarm, bred a couple of interesting ones:
- RUSTICA LS, regularly placed 1.45m and 1.50m in Mexico
- RODA LS LA SILLA, ranked in the GP 2* 1.45m of Guadalajara at 9 years old.
- ZINEDINE LS, from the very first generation, placed 1.35m with an American Amateur rider.
